I asked my new roomie to google direct tv North Hills to see what kind of tv we could get in our new place! I’m so excited to have our own place. We met at our first jobs out of school and have been friends ever since. She moved away for a bit for another job (which sounded totally boring, by the way, but hey it’s a paycheck). And now she’s back. She is so easy to be around, and so sweet. We’re pretty different, but we still get along well! She teaches Sunday School at her church, doesn’t go out on the weekends, but she is one of the best friends a girl could ask for!

The Jamaican-American rapper, born Dwight Arrington Myers, who called himself “the overweight lover” but could still bust out plenty of dance moves, found success with his 1987 debut album, “Living Large” and even more with the 1989 followup “Big Tyme,” which spawned hits such as “We Got Our Own Thang”and “Gyrlz, They Love Me.” Another of his best-known songs was a 1991 cover of “Now That We Found Love.” He also performed the theme song for sketch comedy show “In Living Color.”Heavy D had just recently released a new album, “Love Opus,” earlier this year. The self-proclaimed “overweight lover” of hip hop, who became one of rap’s top hit makers with his charming combination of humor and positivity, enthusiastically told his Twitter followers Tuesday morning to “BE INSPIRED!”

He later collapsed outside his Beverly Hills home following a shopping trip, unable to breathe, before he was transported to a nearby hospital where he died. He was 44. Detectives found no signs of foul play and believe his death was medically related, said police Lt. Mark Rosen.

“BE INSPIRED!” was typical of the positive tweets Heavy D would send, and as his final tweet, it was fitting for the life that Heavy D lived.

The deep-voiced rapper’s earliest hit, “The Overweight Lover’s in the House,” played up his hefty frame. But while that nickname would stick, his weight did not become his shtick like the Fat Boys. What drew people to his music was his singular style celebrating an easygoing, party vibe — sometimes humorous, sometimes inspiring and usually positive.

Heavy D, who was never afraid to bust a move or perform as a character, also found success on the screen. He created the theme songs for the sketch comedy shows “In Living Color” and “MADtv” and acted on such TV shows as “Boston Public,” ‘’The Tracy Morgan Show” and “Law & Order: SVU,” as well as in the films “Life,” ‘’Step Up” and most recently “Tower Heist.”

While switching between acting and performing in the late 1990s, Heavy D wasn’t as musically successful with his later Boyz-free albums. He attempted a reggae-fueled comeback in 2008 with the album “Vibes,” which didn’t contain any rapping, before he returned to his lyrical roots on his most recent effort, “Love Opus,” which was released in September.

A lighter Heavy D — coming in at apparently 135 pounds less than his former weight — returned to the stage for a pair of energetic performances last month. He delivered a medley of past hits at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta, and joined La Toya Jackson on stage for a rendition of “Jam” at the tribute concert for Michael Jackson in Cardiff, Wales.

My husband went out of town for the weekend with two of his guy friends. This weekend seems incredibly long without him being around. He also took the SUV so I cannot legally drive my kids around because we both forget to take the car seats out of the back seat. We girls are stuck in the house for the entire weekend. The naps have been taken, it is after 3p.m. and it is still a long way off before bedtime. I tried to appease the group by finding that new movie on television that we found on our WWW.direct.TV satellite channels. I could not seem to make the girls happy and they were getting restless. I was about to scream when I get a call from a friend that wants to bring her daughter over to play for about an hour. I could have jumped for joy. I decided that I would turn the play date into a dinner date and invite them for dinner. I needed some motivation to cook anyway and the adult conversation was seriously lacking. The evening ended perfectly. The kids and I both slept well.

Ground Turkey Recall: Cargill Pulls 36 Million Pounds of Meat

Major meat processor, Cargill has recalled approximately 36 million pounds of ground turkey as part of a salmonella scare on Wednesday.

The Arkansas plant processed the suspicious fresh and frozen ground turkey products between February 20 and August 2, the company stated in a press release.

The U.S. wide outbreak involved the bacteria strain, Salmonella Heidelberg, which has a resistance to most antibiotics,

To date the bacteria has killed one person and made 76 other people, in twenty-six states, ill.

Cargill has suspended the production of ground turkey in the Springdale, Arkansas, plant until the source of the bacteria strain can be determined.

“It is regrettable that people may have become ill from eating one of our ground turkey products and, for anyone who did, we are truly sorry,” Steve Willardsen, president of Cargill’s turkey processing business, said in a written statement.

Some people are so talented, they’re tortured. Maybe she was one of those people. I don’t know. I’m definitely sorry that I won’t be hearing new music from that voice anymore. It’s sad. “

Wow I am not shocked but sadden to hear this, she was an amazing talent. May she rest in peace.

At 3:54 pm BST (14:54 UTC) on 23 July 2011, two ambulances were called to Winehouse’s home in Camden, London.Shortly afterwards, the Metropolitan Police confirmed her death.There is currently an open investigation to determine the cause of death, which is described by police as unexplained.After her death was announced, media and camera crews appeared as crowds gathered near Winehouse’s residence to pay their respects. Forensic investigators entered the flat as police cordoned off the street outside. Her record label, Universal, released a statement that read in part: “We are deeply saddened at the sudden loss of such a gifted musician, artist and performer.”

An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday, 24 July 2011.

According to our tipster, another ad was placed on Craigslist and a garage sale website with the offensive disclaimer about who this hatemonger would and wouldn’t sell to, but both were removed after people complained about the content. Our tipster, a gay man, also sent a response to the email asking in part, “In what way does someone’s sexual orientation or religion affect their ability to buy some crap out of your tacky Leesburg mcmansion,” and got this response.

i have gay friends, but i don’t need that kind of unknown drama element around me as i know how it can be at times. no thanks. just like i don’t want someone drunk or on drugs at the sale. homosexuality is a sin and i won’t stack up your sin against mine, but i can choose the type of people to whom my belongings will end up with … and what i’m supporting with that action. i cannot support homosexuality bc i feel it robs true soul mates from being with one another. nature / God / whatever one may believe intended one man for one woman. period. jmho. don’t hate me, i tolerate that these things exist … the only thing i have no tolerance for is islam … which, i would hope as a gay man you would also not tolerate (since they think all of you should be killed and i think that is WRONG).

The L.A. Times reports two national brokerage firms have started offering the service. A representative from one of the companies says it’s trying to stay ahead of the game:

According to officials in Gwinnett County, Bryson Bryant was charged with shoplifting and a probation violation around 9 PM local time last night.

It’s
not his first brush with the law … Bryson — who has appeared on the
reality show with his mother in the past — was arrested last year for
marijuana possession.

This summer is filled with movie blockbusters but, I know there is one movie that will keep you watching it forever. I really think this movie will be a classic, reason for that is it’s every girls dream to go to Paris. The romantic mood, the good feeling you just get when watching the trailer is incredible. So I’m going to watch this movie with my girlfriends not because it’s a chick flick, but because it gives you that feeling of comfort from when I was a teen. Monte Carlo is a movie about a teen Grace who is played by (Selena Gomez), her step sister and best friend go on the best adventure ever. When they plan a trip to Paris they did not know what they where in for, until Grace gets mistaken for a British heiress. They get to live it up in Monte Carlo I’m talking exclusive parties and everything, but the question is can they keep living it up? Well you will have to just see for yourself, the movie is now playing in theaters.

I just know this is the movie to see this year, get your girls or daughters to check this movie out. You will not be disappoint at all, I love romantic comedy do you, if so go see it. One of the reasons my ex-husband and I broke up is that he stopped eating my food. He was pissed [off] for other reasons, but the best way to show me was by leaving what I’d made for him uneaten for days on the kitchen counter. It was a smack in the face.

I didn’t leave home until 27. I was an only child raised in Philadelphia by my mother and grandmother. My grandmother controlled the stove. She made a lot of potato meals – mashed potato, potato souffle, potato pancakes. When we didn’t have electricity we ate romantically, by candlelight.

I was treated as a princess, with room service. Sometimes I’d wake to a breakfast in bed of pork, scrambled eggs, grits and biscuits. We didn’t have much, and they found a way to treat me as special as possible.

I was once making a burger for myself at my boyfriend’s house and a lyric started pouring out and I had to catch it, so I ran to another room to write it down, but then the kitchen caught fire. His cabinets were charred, and he was furious. But it was worth it for a song.

People think that lemon is good for the voice, but it dries it out. Luther Vandross gave me a lot of advice. Cheeses are not our friend. Eat as much green vegetable as possible. I have hot tea on stage, scented with grand marnier – which isn’t good for the voice but opens my head.

When I got my success I became decadent for a while. This was 2003 to 2008. I fell for tiramisu really hard. I’ve become more moderate since, because African-Americans are prone to diabetes. A nutritionist has told me to have very little butter and very little spices, but I can’t live like that.

I panicked when my son, Jett, stopped eating baby food. He’s only two but his food vocabulary is fantastic. He likes my baked tilapia and string beans with chopped garlic. But he really likes pizza. Sometimes every inanimate object to him is pizza.
